Focus on Diabetes
November is diabetes month – and chances are that diabetes affects you or someone you know. In Canada today there are 11 million people living with diabetes or prediabetes. And someone new is diagnosed every three minutes.
The most common form of this chronic, often debilitating, and sometimes fatal disease is type 2 diabetes, which occurs when sugar (glucose) builds up in the blood instead of being used for energy. If left untreated, it can result in a variety of complications including heart attack, stroke, kidney failure, blindness – even amputation.
One of the risk factors for type 2 diabetes is being overweight, especially if that weight is mostly carried around the tummy. To help rid yourself of those extra pounds and get healthier, I can work closely with you to put together a plan to change your current habits into a healthier way of living and eating. Or, if you’d like to know about a weight management system that you can trust, I would be happy to walk you through one. This weight management system is one that some of my clients opt for because of its simplicity, effectiveness and the fact that it has clinically tested products that help people shed unhealthy fat while retaining lean muscle. The products also have low glycemic indexes, which means that the carbohydrates are more slowly digested, absorbed, and metabolized and cause a lower and slower rise in blood glucose levels.
I would be happy to discuss weight loss options with you or someone you care about! Just reach out and ask!
